The Nest is an independently run climbing and fitness centre in Hayes, West London. We have a small but enthusiastic team who are passionate about climbing and the community that we have built around the sport here at our centre. Alongside our climbing walls we also have a fully equipped gym and studio, where we run regular weekly classes.

Job Title: Routesetter

Location: The Nest Climbing Centre, Hayes, London
Job Type: One day per week (Thursday 8am-5pm)

 

About the role:
The Nest Climbing is looking for a routesetter to join our in-house setting team. This is an opportunity to develop your personal routesetting skills whilst helping create a rich climbing experience for a positively engaged climbing community. You will be working with Adam the headsetter and rotating freelance setters on a weekly basis.

The Nest is a small community focused climbing wall in West London. We value creative and empathetic routesetting, which is strengthened by a healthy relationship between the setting team, other staff and customers. If you want to set in a fun and engaging environment, join us.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Setting 7-9 problems a day

  • Engagement with critique in the testing process to ensure problems are of a high quality and are accessible for all sizes

  • Strong understanding and vigilance on safe routesetting practice

  • Friendly communication with teammates, other staff and customers. 

  • Choosing vibey playlists

 

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum one year regular routesetting experience (e.g. as an apprentice routesetter)

  • Ability to set and test above V6

  • Positive attitude and psyche for climbing

  • Empathy for climbers of all abilities

  • Strong display of creative routesetting?
